Kuoni Discover

Kuoni has launched a new programme called Discover, which aims to bring together more adventurous and ‘soul-stirring’ travel ideas into one brochure.

The new Discover brochure was launched in November 2011 and focuses on Latin America, India, the Far East and Africa.

Kuoni  has also tied up with BBC TV presenter, explorer and journalist Simon Reeve, best known for his programmes such as Equator and Tropic of Capricorn, to write an introduction to the brochure.

Simon Reeve was at the press launch of the brochure, where he said: “On my travels over the years, I have definitely noticed that people want to do more than just lounge around on a beach and there is a real appetite to get more from their travels.”

Discover is broken down into independent itineraries, small group tours, escorted tours, and ad hoc components for personalised trips, although some of the flagged experiences include hot air ballooning in Jaipur, tea with a Gurkha family, zip-lining in Honduras, horse riding in Uruguay, cruising in Antarctica and snorkelling in the San Blas Islands in Panama.

The lead-in price for Discover is £935pp for a Taj Tour, which is a six-night escorted small group tour into Delhi, the Taj Mahal and the palaces and forts in the pink city of Jaipur, including flights on Virgin Atlantic, but the programme ranges upwards to a nine-night tour of Antarctica from £8,219pp, including five nights on board Antarctica XXI.

“This collection represents extraordinary experiences for our travellers,” said Sarah Beckwith, Kuoni’s market manager for Discover. “They can explore the world and experience true adventure.”

Latin America is a large part of the programme, including Bolivia, Colombia, Easter Island and jaguar-spotting tours in Venezuela.

Private tours are also available, such as walking in the Annapurna in Nepal, a nine-night trip from £1,949 per person which includes a four-night trek with a visit to the home of an ex Gurkha.
